Delores R. Boyd, Chair
7th Congressional District

Delores R. Boyd practiced law in her Montgomery hometown for 25 years, including service as a municipal court judge and a four-year term as Chair of the Alabama Board of Bar Examiners. She retired at the end of 2006 as a U. S. Magistrate Judge for the Middle District of Alabama and concluded her legal career as a mediator in 2021. She served as a director on the founding boards for both the Legal Services Corporation of Alabama and the Alabama Appleseed Center for Law & Justice. She is co-author of Jim Crow and Me, the 2008 memoir of pioneering civil rights attorney Solomon S. Seay Jr.

Boyd joined the ADAH Board of Trustees in 2011 and became its Chair in 2023. She is the first woman to hold the position. Her other volunteer service involved organizations addressing social justice, domestic violence, and mental health.

Boyd is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Alabama and recipient of the Outstanding Alumna Award in Communication Studies. She holds a law degree from the University of Virginia.
