Into Focus: Photographing a Changing Alabama
Fall 2023
First Floor Corridor

Into Focus uses dozens of newspaper photographs to explore challenges and change in the state during the late twentieth century. Among the themes explored are the continued racial integration of institutions and everyday life, the rise of the state’s Republican Party, and Alabama’s broadening role in an increasingly global economy. The exhibit is drawn from the extensive Alabama Media Group Collection. The largest donation in the history of the ADAH, the collection includes photographic negatives from the Huntsville Times, Birmingham News, and Mobile's Press-Register.
