Garland Cook Smith
6th Congressional District

Garland Cook Smith is a philanthropic leader and historic preservationist with ties to Birmingham and the Black Belt. She has served numerous Alabama organizations as an officer or board member, including the Alabama Archives and History Foundation, Friends of the Alabama Archives, the Alabama Trust for Historic Preservation, the Cahaba Foundation, Black Belt Treasures in Camden, and the Wilcox County Historical Society. She joined the ADAH Board of Trustees in 2022.

In Birmingham, Smith has provided leadership to the Virginia Samford Theatre, the Birmingham Museum of Art, the Alabama Ballet, the McWane Science Center, the Birmingham History Center, and Vulcan Park and Museum.
