J. Schley Rutherford Jr.

J. Schley Rutherford Jr. is CEO of Peacock Pavers, an Atmore-based company specializing in architectural-grade, handcrafted concrete pavers, and an owner and partner at Gulf & Atlantic, LLC, a forest products company. He previously held operational and leadership positions at Norton Lilly International, the oldest and largest ship agency in North America, and worked in marine and energy risk placement for the Willis Group.

Rutherford joined the ADAH Board of Trustees in 2023. He also volunteers in leadership for the Alabama Chapter of the Nature Conservancy, working to preserve the state’s native wildlife, waters, and lands, and for the Barton Academy Foundation, committed to restoring Alabama’s oldest public school.

A graduate of Birmingham-Southern College with a B.A. in history, Rutherford is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting and fishing.
