Majella Chube Hamilton
6th Congressional District
Majella Chube Hamilton is a co-founder and the Executive Director of the Ballard House Project, Inc., where she and a team have worked to preserve an historic
structure in the Birmingham Civil Rights Historic District, creating a cultural storehouse of historical information, engaged dialogue, and shared experiences
representing the history of the African American community in Birmingham. The site was named one of "20 Alabama Civil Rights Sites to Watch" in 2018 by the World
Monuments Fund and is a member site of the National Park Service’s African American Civil Rights Network.
Hamilton established the City of Birmingham’s first Office of Public Information for residents during the administration of Mayor Richard Arrington Jr. and is a
former Lifestyle, Homes, and Associate Livings Editor at Southern Living magazine. As a specialized consultant, Hamilton has assisted numerous entities in strategic
planning, historic preservation visioning, and community engagement, including the Birmingham Museum of Art, the Metropolitan Arts Council, the Alabama Historical Commission,
and the City of Birmingham.
Hamilton joined the ADAH Board of Trustees in 2021 and is currently a doctoral candidate in U. S. History and Public History at Howard University.
